The Friday Harbor Sailing Club swings into outdoor action with several activities that might interest you.

April 8: Free lunch on Saturday following a Sail and Race Clinic that begins at 10 a.m. at Shipyard Cove Marina. After lunch, the club will walk the docks inspecting the different types of boats and if the weather allows, they will head out on the water for an afternoon introductory sail. All free, all fun.

April 19: The club meets at the FH Grange at 5:30 p.m. for our monthly pot luck dinner meeting. There will be a presentation, Kim Sundberg talking about cruising along the coast of British Columbia. Come and enjoy the evening.

April 22: Flotsam Sea and Flea Market begins at 8 a.m. at the SJ County Fairgrounds. All are invited to enter to sell goods or just walk the isles. Applications for booths are due April 19 and are available on our website (see below). Anyone will be welcome to sell, cash sales only. Come and have lunch with us.

April 29: Th first All comers Saturday sail race. Although it is titled an Etchells race, we will open the race to all sailboats. We begin at 11 a.m. at the starting line. More information is available on our web site. Sign up there so we can contact you with any changes in the plan for the day. We typically have one long race (like around Jones Island) or several shorter races (like around the Reid Rock mark) depending on the day.

May 5: Double the fun with two activities: first, the clubs first Friday Evening Scallywags Sail Race, leaving from Shipyard Cove docks at 3 p.m. The race begins at 4 p.m., to Reid Rock and back. All sailors are invited to enter their boats or join a skipper. The gun goes off at 4 p.m. with the BBQ being lit at Jensen’s Marina at 5 p.m. Come One -Come All, in true Eastside Scallywag tradition, the first boat over the finish line wins, searching for rules will prove not to be profitable. The first cruise to Fisherman’s Bay on Lopez Island will also begin. Enjoy Opening Day activities on Lopez for both Friday and Saturday. We return Sunday morning to take part in the Port of Friday Harbor Opening Day activities. What a week-end! Hope to see you there.

All Friday Harbor Sailing Club activities are listed and described at our website at www.FridayHarborSailingClub.com under ‘calendar’.
