The lady Wolverines faced the Orcas Vikings two weeks ago winning 9 - 0. The game resulted in injury to two Viking players, according to Viking Coach Chris Doherty. One girl has a cracked tibia and another has a cracked ankle.

8.8k fair run results

Chauncey Cox placed first in Island Rec's 8.8k Fair Fun Run on Saturday, Aug. 20 with a time of 35 minutes and 16 seconds. He was followed by Max Haenel at 36:19 and then Andrew Moffatt at 38:13.

Forty-three boats finish Shaw Island race

The rare combination of being an "either way" race with sun and wind made the 46th Annual Shaw Island Classic one to remember. Hosted by the San Juan Island Yacht Club, the race starts and finishes in Friday Harbor and circumnavigates scenic Shaw Island in either a clockwise or counterclockwise direction. It presents a navigational challenge as currents, wind and projected boat speed must be considered to determine which way to 'round the island.

46th Annual Shaw Island Classic Race

Sponsored by the San Juan Island Yacht Club, the 46th Shaw Island Classic Sailboat Race will be Saturday, Aug. 6. Eligible boats and crews can participate. The race starts from Friday Harbor and circumnavigates Shaw in either a clockwise or counterclockwise direction, arriving back in Friday Harbor for dinner and an awards presentation. The race is a navigational challenge as currents, wind and projected boat speed must be considered to determine which way to 'round the island. The race is open to registered PHRF boats and cruising sailboats of all sizes and rigs, as well as multihulls and unballasted centerboards. Trophies will be awarded for the first three finishers in each class based on corrected time, adjusted for PHRF or committee-assigned ratings. More info at www.sjiyc.com.

15th Annual King’s San Juan Island marathon

Attention drivers, on Saturday June 18 the Lakedale Three Lakes Triathlon will kick off its fourth year with cyclist and runners on the roadways and the 15 Annual King's San Juan Island Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k runners will be on the roads; challenging themselves and each other on Sunday the 19.

Charity golf tournemant postponed

Chairman Pat O'Day announced a one year postponement of the annual fund raising event. O'Day says, "The board must do some diligent re-planning of the tournament as the costs have risen to an extent leaving little money for the nonprofits, the sole reason for which the event is held."
