Issanjou's 'hat-trick' propels Friday Harbor to State semi-final berth | Boys soccer

Arno Issanjou tallied his third hat-trick (three goals in a game) of the season and the Wolverines showed one of their strongest defensive performances, limiting the Crusaders (11-8) to only a handful of shots and leaving goalkeeper Dalton Ayers with little to do.

With Friday Harbor trailing 6-0 after three quarters of play, senior Bill Revercomb broke through the Red Raiders defensive front and galloped 25 yards into the end zone to tie the score with eight minutes remaining in the non-league contest, Thursday, Nov. 6, in Friday Harbor.

With the victory, the Wolverines (13-4) punched their ticket to the Division 2B state tournament and collected their ninth consecutive victory, thanks in large part to three timely saves by goalkeeper Hayden Mayer.

The victory clinches a spot in the state 2B tournament quarterfinals for the Wolverines, the program's first appearance at state since 2005. They will play two more district playoff games in the next week to decide state seeding, starting with a showdown Wednesday, Nov.5, against undefeated Mount Vernon Christian (17-0).
