Wolverines shutout Mount Vernon Christian

The second home game of the season gave lady Wolverines soccer team a win as they shut out Mount Vernon Christian on Tuesday, Sept. 12 with a final score of three to zero.

“We played with good energy, connected passes,” said coach Paul Hopkins, adding proudly, “and we scored more than them.”

According to Hopkins, freshman Darcy Ayers kicked two of those goals, from the defensive midfielder position, making it an excellent game for her, and an impressive beginning to her soccer career.

“Our back four [defense players] worked well as a unit, and with cutting off angles, which we have been working on,” he said.

This Friday, Sept. 15, the Wolverines will play Granite Falls. The next home game will take place Thursday, Sept. 21, at the John O. Linde fields, against the Orcas Vikings.
