Catch of the day: bounty of research at Jackson’s Beach

No graduate course at the Friday Labs that focuses on the "functional morphology" of fish would be complete without a day of field work at Jackson's Beach. And the field work proved fruitful Wednesday, July 11, as a team of grad students netted a bounty of specimens for more in-depth back in the classroom.

Pen Point gunnels, striped perch and sculpins were among the many marine creatures collected by a team of University of Washington graduates students Wednesday, July 11, at Jackson’s Beach.

Study of bounty netted during Wednesday’s field work will be part of the curriculum of a graduate course, entitled “Functional Morphology and Ecology of Marine Fish”, at Friday Harbor Labs.
