The third and final weekend of the 2010 Islands Playwrights Festival features two short plays and a monologue focusing on San Juan Island people, places and memories.

The festival, themed this year in honor of Friday Harbor’s 100th birthday, continues inside San Juan Community Theatre’s intimate Gubelman Theatre Feb. 11-13 at 7:30 p.m.; and Feb. 14 at 2 p.m.

Opening the final lineup is Don Pollard’s “Tangled Memories,” directed by Jane Maxwell Campbell. The one-act play melds memory, dreams and reality at Friday Harbor’s Memorial Park, and is based on a brief conversation Pollard had 20 years ago when he first purchased a home on the island.

The monologue, “Charlie Holds a Meeting,” written by Chris DeStaffany and directed by Ed Wilson, is an imaginative recounting of Charlie McKee’s speech on the vices of drink.

Jennifer Beck Furber’s “Light at Limekiln” is a memory piece about 1930s Limekiln Lighthouse residents, told in narrative verse and directed by John Davis.

The festival’s Business Partner is Best Western Friday Harbor Suites, with support from the San Juan Island Community Foundation.

Tickets are $17 for adults, $9 for student reserved, with $5 student RUSH one hour before the show, if there are still seats available.

The Box Office is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets may also be purchased online at www.sjctheatre.org
