I am happy to write in strong support of Warren Appleton, M.D. for S. J. Island Fire District 3. FD3 would benefit from changes in transparency, increased community access, investment in its volunteers and improved teamwork with partner agencies.

Dr. Appleton would bring a broad range of experience and skills to the Fire District as a retired emergency medicine physician, attorney and administrator. He has demonstrated leadership and team-building expertise in multiple roles with other Puget Sound fire departments. Having served at Peace Island Medical Center as an emergency physician from 2015 to 2018, he understands the challenges of emergency services and island life. He is an active listener and a team player. With his wife Nancy, they built a house on Wescott Bay 25 years ago, where they now live.

For all of these reasons, S. J. Fire District 3 would benefit from Warren Appleton as commissioner. Our island will be much better off when he is elected.
