The Friday Harbor Wolverines’ girls soccer season got off to a nice start with a solid 4-0 win over 2A South Whidbey, Wednesday at home. The win was especially gratifying for the seniors, whose previous experience against the Falcons going back to 2007 were 3-6, 0-6 and 1-4 losses. This year’s mix of new and established players has come together quickly, and the team gave the large home crowd an entertaining performance.
The Friday Harbor Town Council and the San Juan Island Fire District commissioners will meet jointly Sept. 16, noon, at the District 3 headquarters fire station on Mullis Street to discuss merging the town and district fire departments.

Both believe that an investment of resources and time in children now is the best way to stop crime in the future. Where they differ is how they would get the job done.
