The event will feature dinner and entertainment. “Come celebrate the Brickworks and help shape the vision for this downtown community gathering space,” an invitation states. “And buy a brick (or two) to show your support.”

The Guild is raising money to purchase 150 Nichols St. for a year-round farmers market, events venue and public green space. The plan includes restoring the old building on the site, which was originally the home of the Friday Harbor Brick and Tile Co., which manufactured bricks used in the construction of many downtown buildings.

The Guild proposes buying the property for $775,000. It has a $375,000 grant from the state and had proposed raising the rest of the money through a conservation easement sale to the Land Bank, but failed to get enough support from the County Council.

The purchase deadline was Aug. 31; the Guild is working with the property owners for more time.
