Two groups. Back-to-back events. And one evening of food, fun, education and entertainment for the whole family.
The San Juan Island Prevention Coalition and Friday Harbor High School’s Food for Thought Program are joining forces to provide an evening of family-friendly entertainment and events tonight, Wednesday, at the high school.
The evening gets under way in the high school commons with the Food for Thought Program’s monthly Community Dinner, prepared by students of the Chef 1.0 Internship and Baking Class, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The dinner’s Southern-Style menu features buttermilk fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, spicy cabbage with bacon, biscuits with honey butter and peanut butter pie with brownie crust. Suggested donation: $10 adults, $5 children 12 and under.
Along with the dinner, the Prevention Coalition is sponsoring Family Game Night with Kenya Masala, beginning at 6:30 p.m., in Turnbull Gym. With Family Game Night, part of its spring Parenting Series, the coalition promotes the idea that families that share play together give themselves a special gift of connection, time and bonding, and that communities that play together, build strengths that become a resource for everyone’s healthy development.
