The Northwest Workforce Council is recruiting individuals over the age of 55 who are interested in part- or full-time employment.

The Senior Community Service Employment Program has available enrollment for seniors with paid training opportunities in San Juan County. Applicants must be over the age of 55, and meet the low-income guideline set by the state. Training is offered through collaboration with local non-profit agencies in all three counties, and participants are paid $8.55 per hour.

These are temporary part-time positions, not to exceed six months. The goal of this program is to assist participants to secure long-term unsubsidized employment with local employers. Opportunities for participants to provide a service to community agencies while receiving a minimum wage income are many. Participants will be working and developing employment skills and references.

The training contribution of the non-profit agency is appreciated at a time when their funding resources are being cut. The Work Experience opportunity helps prepare participants for local jobs and provides employers an active older worker employment pool to select from.
