Dr. Bo Turnage, practicing general dentistry in Friday Harbor, has completed a continuing education program in Southern California at Loma Linda University.

Under the direction of the internationally acclaimed periodontist Dr. Peter Nordland, director of the Oral Microsurgical Residency program at the Newport Coast Oral-Facial Institute, Turnage has completed his coursework in Periodontal/Oral Plastic Surgery. The course prepared Turnage to diagnose and treat pathological defects in gum tissue that not only effect the stability of natural and implant-borne dentition, but also ones that create unsightly esthetic issues. Simply put, patients with gum problems that compromise their smile or the fate of their teeth can now get local treatment.

In addition, as of Oct. 1, Turnage’s office is a member of the Washington State Dental Association Outreach Program of Washington. This program offers a reduced fee dental care program for low-income, elderly, disabled, and Alzheimer’s patients. Services are discounted 25 percent. Interested parties may be screened and qualified by Mullis Community Senior Center. They will be given a signed WSDA Outreach form to present to Turnage’s office.
