With both district championship and league title in tow, the Friday Harbor softball team will square off against Pe Ell of the Central League Friday, May 29, in the opening round of the state 2B fast-pitch softball tournament.

The game begins at 9 a.m. at the Yakima Gateway Sports Complex.

But you don’t have to leave home to stay top of the action. The game will be broadcast live by KMNT Radio, 104.3 FM or KELA 1470 AM, or streamed on the KMNT Radio website. Click here for the station’s 2B tournament schedule

The Wolverines (8-1 league, 15-6 overall) defeated La Conner 10-6 in the regional playoff championship game to clinch the team’s first berth at state in four years.

The Pe Ell Trojans (11-7 league, 15-11 overall) finished the regular season tied for fourth place in the 2B Central League, led by Toutle Lake (17-1, 20-3) and runner-up Adna (16-2, 22-3), which will both be competing in Yakima as well.

A two-day tournament featuring 16 teams, the 2B state fast-pitch championship follows a double-elimination format; however, a loss anywhere along the way means a drop into the consolation bracket, where the highest possible finish is third place overall.
