Clouds roiled in the skies above San Juan Golf & Country Club.
But Jordyn Taylor shook off the chill of this Marchuary day to sink a long putt on the No. 3 and maintain his par streak. His response? “It’s been a bit of a bumpy start, but we’ll get this train rolling.”
And roll he did — to a 1-under 34 to help lead the Friday Harbor Wolverines to a 215-265 win over La Conner, March 24.
Taylor, a senior, medaled. Dustin Howard, senior, shot 39; Cody Price, senior, 42; William King, junior, 49; Quinn Bune, sophomore, 51; and Taylor Molloy, 54.
Megan Cuomo finished first in a field of three female golfers, with 44. She was on fire on the green, sinking a putt on the par 5 No. 9 from 30 feet out.
Top finishers from La Conner: Erik Lindeman, 47, for fourth place; Michael Wilbur, 49, to tie for fifth; Galen McKnight, 55; Bobby Poulton, 56; and Trenton Swigert, 58.
Shoreline Christian’s lone golfer, sophomore Ben Turner, shot 51.
With the win, Friday Harbor improved to 2-0.
