The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

Nov. 29

• Deputies responded to a Friday Harbor residence on a report of a domestic incident. The incident was determined to be verbal, and one party was escorted to Safe San Juans and put in touch with support services.

• On San Juan, a motorcycle bag was found in the roadway, retrieved, and entered into the evidence system as found property.

Nov. 30

• Deputies responded when an unoccupied vehicle rolled off an embankment on Fisherman Bay Road on Lopez, nearly going into the water. There were no injuries, and the truck was undamaged.

• A deputy was dispatched to a reported order violation in the Friday Harbor area. A person had contacted dispatch and said they were violating a court order. A deputy confirmed the violation by contacting the person.

• Lopez deputies responded to the school for a weapon offense and documented the incident.

• A Lopez deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle on Mud Bay Road. The driver was subsequently issued a citation for speeding 50 mph in a posted 35 mph zone.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle after observing it peel out in front of the Sheriff’s Office. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence, received multiple citations, and was booked into jail.

• A deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for speeding on Mud Bay Road on Lopez. The driver was subsequently issued a speeding citation for traveling 50 mph in a posted 35 mph zone.

Dec. 1

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a citizen assist call.

Dec. 2

• A deputy on Orcas logged found property in evidence.

• On Lopez, a driver received a citation for traveling 45 mph in a 25 mph zone on Fisherman Bay Road.

• A deputy on Orcas conducted a traffic stop and issued the driver a citation for speeding, 57 mph in a 35 mph zone.

• A Friday Harbor resident turned in an envelope with an undisclosed amount of cash inside which was found at the dog park. The money was placed into the property and evidence room.

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a theft call after the reporting party said a package had been stolen from their mailbox and the suspects damaged the box. The investigation is ongoing.

Dec. 3

• On San Juan, deputies received a report that a trespassing sign was reported stolen. The sign was taken from the gate at the entrance to a driveway. It is believed the sign was taken sometime in the early morning hours. After an investigation, it was still not located.

• A Lopez resident reported the theft of a wreath from their mailbox.

• A deputy in Friday Harbor was contacted about a possible fraud. The caller claimed that they used a credit card at a local business, and noticed a second charge to their card. They were disputing the charge with their credit card company.

• A deputy on San Juan spoke with an individual at PeaceHealth Medical Center, who wished to report information to law enforcement.

Dec. 4

• An Orcas deputy responded to a report that an Australian Kelpie was lost and possibly stolen from the West Beach area sometime around Nov. 26.

• A deputy on San Juan received a report of a hit-and-run. The deputy took the report from the victim; currently, the suspect is unknown.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a trespass callback in which the property owner wanted two individuals given trespass warning letters.

Dec. 5

• An Orcas deputy contacted a person regarding a civil matter. The reporting party alleged theft of a business name; the investigation is ongoing.

• A deputy on San Juan responded to the high school for a report of a student in possession of drugs. The suspected drugs were seized as evidence, and the incident was documented and forwarded to Superior Court Services.
