‘Hands on Fundraising in the Real World: Fundraising for Small Non-Profits’ Oct. 19 at Skagit Valley College

Does your organization participate in fundraising? Do your board members and volunteers have the skills they need to be successful in finding the funds needed to support the work of the organization? Or do you and they shrink from direct contact with potential donors? Perhaps you need to rethink your fundraising plan as well as its process.

Does your organization participate in fundraising? Do your board members and volunteers have the skills they need to be successful in finding the funds needed to support the work of the organization? Or do you and they shrink from direct contact with potential donors?

Perhaps you need to rethink your fundraising plan as well as its process.

Invest a day in developing the framework for success by participating in this one-day workshop, “Fundraising for Small Non-Profits,” led by Bob Schwartzberg on Oct. 19, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Skagit Valley College San Juan Center.

Schwartzberg retired after almost nine years as the development director for the U.W. Friday Harbor Labs. He continues to be active in fund-raising and is a senior associate at the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, where he’s on the faculty of The Fund Raising School.

Many island organizations have attended the week-long seminar that Schwartzberg teaches for The Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, spending more than a thousand dollars on travel and registration fees. As a resident of San Juan Island, Schwartzberg recognizes the challenges this poses for local organizations and has developed a workshop that encapsulates the primary principles of fundraising for small organizations into a day-long interactive learning experience.

In order to maintain a quality learning environment, advance registration is required. Class size will be limited to 24 participants. Tuition: $75. Call 378-3220.
