Elyse Van den Bosch steps down from her role as publisher; last day June 3

Elyse Van den Bosch, publisher of the Islands’ Sounder, Journal of the San Juans and Islands’ Weekly cited personal reasons for her resignation announced on Monday. Van den Bosch last day at the Journal will be Friday, June 3.

Van den Bosch has worked for Sound Publishing for more than 17 years. She was hired as advertising director in the San Juans in 1994 and was promoted to publisher of the Sounder, Journal and Weekly in August, 2002.

“We would like to thank Elyse for her many years of dedicated service and wish her all the best in her future endeavors,” says Lori Maxim, vice president of West Sound Newspaper Operations.

In the interim, Marcia Van Dyke, publisher of the Whidbey News-Times, South Whidbey Record and Whidbey Crosswind, will assist in overseeing the Friday Harbor office.

Until a permanent solution is determined, Van Dyke will also oversee the Islands’ Sounder Eastsound office.

“Marcia is most familiar with the current structure and personnel in the San Juans and will assure that business continues as usual during this transition time,” Maxim said. “Please join me in thanking Elyse and wishing her success.”
