Submitted by the San Juan Public Schools Foundation.

It’s the time of year to celebrate knowledge with our community! The 2023 Knowledge Bowl will be held on March 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the San Juan Community Theatre.

A cross between Jeopardy and the old college quiz bowls, teams compete to answer questions on geography, history, pop culture, local fare, and more. The event is organized by the San Juan Public Schools Foundation.

This year there are eight competing teams, which include Friday Harbor 8 th graders, combined teams of 9th and 10th, and 11th and 12th grades from Friday Harbor High School, and teams from the Soroptimists, Rotary Club, Lions, and Kiwanis. Banner Bank is the final question sponsor. Mason Turnage will serve as Master of Ceremonies. The High School Jazz Band will also provide musical entertainment and the elementary school PTO will have a bake sale. There will be a fundraising raffle with grand prizes including a getaway to Roche Harbor and an Xbox Series S Console.

“Come root for your favorite team! This is a fun-filled community event for all ages,” said Floyd Bourne, SJPS Foundation Director. Admission is $5. All proceeds go directly to the SJPS Foundation to support our teachers and students. Doors open at 6:15.
