San Juan Idol: You Could Be Next

Travis Berwald works as a butcher by day and as an assistant wrestling coach by night. Rusty Mager is a shop manager. Mike Scott is a cable repairman. What do all these people have in common? For one night they were superstars. All it took was one audition to change their lives.

Well, that may be exagerrating a bit, but they did win trophies.

Now aspiring singers across the island have their chance to be the next San Juan Idol. The number one talent search on San Juan is looking for performers for the 5th annual San Juan Idol.

The top three winners from each night of auditions will perform as the 12 finalists for the June 3 fund-raising extravaganza, Relay for Life San Juan Idol concert at Herb’s Tavern. Finalists are judged on their fund-raising abilities during a series of performances.

All proceeds support the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Last year’s San Juan Idol concert raised $5000.

Singers will not walk away empty-handed either. First place winner sings the National Anthem at the July 30 Relay for Life event and receives $200. Second place wins $150 and third place wins $50.

So come to Herb’s Tavern May 4, 11, 18, and 25 at 9:30 p.m. to show off your vocals and you could be the next San Juan Idol.
