New director at home trust

Submitted by San Juan Community Home Trust

The Board of Directors for the San Juan Community Home Trust is pleased to announce that David S. Gow will take the helm as executive director on the first of June. Gow has called this island home since 2012 and resides here with his partner, Heather Mueller, a Friday Harbor Elementary school teacher since 2007.

Gow has extensive experience spanning two decades holding professional positions within a number of non-profit organizations, large and small, in the Puget Sound region where he has been responsible for grant and contract writing, administrative functions, event planning, volunteer coordination and budgetary/financial management. He has a Bachelors of arts in political science and a master’s in public administration from the University of Washington, having been a long-time resident of the Seattle area.

Gow will begin his tenure on May 1, to overlap with the current executive director Nancy DeVaux, who decided last fall to retire on June 1, after 12 successful and rewarding years with the Home Trust.

Stop by the Home Trust office on Argyle Avenue to share thoughts on the mission, welcome Gow and thank DeVaux during the month of May. Trust members are thrilled to employ Gow’s energy and skills to begin a new era of developing permanently affordable housing for low and moderate income families on San Juan Island.
