Mental Health First Aid training

Submitted by organizers

As people who are concerned for others and their welfare, sometimes it is difficult to discern what the underlying needs are of those seeking help. Acknowledging that the San Juan community plays an integral part in helping those with life challenges, we are offering Mental Health First Aid training from 8:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Nov. 2, at Christ the King Church in Friday Harbor.

Just as CPR helps even those without clinical training assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid prepares participants to interact with a person experiencing a mental health crisis. Mental Health First Aiders learn a 5-step action plan that guides them through the process of reaching out and offering appropriate support.
