Library expands weekend hours

Submitted by the San Juan Island Library

The San Juan Island Library is pleased to announce an expansion of weekend open hours in 2024. Starting in January, the library weekend’s hours will be:

Saturdays: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Sundays: Noon-3 p.m.

This expansion is based on feedback the Library received from the community, desiring access to library facilities for longer on Saturdays and Sundays. We are excited to expand our Library services based on these needs. These weekday hours will continue to be 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Library will continue to evaluate the hours it is open and adjust based on community feedback and the availability and sustainability of library resources.

Library staff are available to answer your questions about library hours and any other questions the public might have. For more information, Laurie Orton can be reached at lorton@sjlib.org or visit www.sjlib.org. Library cards are free of charge to islanders with proof of residency. In addition to its collections of books, videos, equipment, games, audiobooks, and other materials to loan, the library also provides public access computers, WiFi, and a suite of databases that patrons can access in the library or at home. Library hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m and Sundays noon to 3 p.m.
