Help fight hunger one Zumba step after another

A person burns roughly 750 calories by participating in a one-hour Zumba session. For every one-hour Zumba class attended at the Ament’s Zumba headquarters, located at Dance Workshop II, the Ament’s will donate 14 cents to the Untied Nations World Food Program and Feeding America as part of the "The Great Calorie Drive".

San Juan Island Zumba instructors Bill and Rita Ament have joined forces with the Zumba Fitness Corporation to bring the “The Great Calorie Drive” to Friday Harbor.

The program seeks to help end hunger through exercise. Here’s how it works:

A person burns roughly 750 calories by participating in a one-hour Zumba session. For every one-hour Zumba class attended at the Ament’s Zumba headquarters, located at Dance Workshop II, the Ament’s  will donate 14 cents to the Untied Nations World Food Program and Feeding America as part of the program.

With Zumba instructors in more than 185 countries worldwide, those pennies add up as the calories burn.

Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Saturdays mornings. For more information, contact the Ament’s, 378-9628.
