Local pianist Farhad Ghatan takes islanders on a trip from the Baroque to the Romantic eras — and adds a sprinkle of ragtime — in his piano concert on Friday, Oct. 29, 7:30 p.m., in the San Juan Community Theatre.

Ghatan said his musical tour will steer the audience to such composers as Bach, Beethoven, Granados, Joplin, Mozart, Schubert.

“While the concert is given in classic recital form, I like to share interesting tidbits on the composers, or, depending on the piece, musical details that audiences find most interesting,” he said.

A self-taught keyboardist, Ghatan said that as an amateur pianist he enjoys performing as a way for him to improve his musicianship and to share in what he hopes is not a dying art.

The business partner for the evening is Fine Art Photography by Robert Hare Stavers. Tickets are $14 for adults, $7 for student reserved with $5 RUSH at the door.

The box office is open Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Or visit www.sjctheatre.org.
