Full day of flamenco as Fuentes and friends return to Friday Harbor

Born in Seattle to parents of Puerto Rican and Irish ancestry, Savannah Fuentes has delighted Northwest audiences with her Flamenco performances for the past seven years, and presented more than 80 shows, workshops and educational programs over that time.

In addition to a scintillating Latin-flavored evening performance, Sunday’s Flamenco Festival, featuring Seattle dancer Savannah Fuentes, will also include introductory workshops in which participants can learn the elements of Flamenco dance, the techniques of Flamenco singing and the building blocks of Flamenco guitar.

Hosted by San Juan Community Theatre, the back-to-back-to-back workshops feature dance instruction by Fuentes and Oscar Valero, noon to 2 p.m., followed by a Flamenco guitar clinic by Pedro Cortes, 2-4 p.m., and Valero’s intro into Flamenco singing, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
