Westwind Aviation and Cessna Aircraft have joined forces to offer free flights in conjunction with the Friday Harbor Fly-In.

On Friday and Saturday, July 25-26, Westwind will host Cessna’s “Discover Flying Challenge” flight program, which introduces people of all ages to the wonders of flight, for free.

Sponsored by Cessna, the Flying Challenge program features six college-age pilots on an aviation ambassador tour of the U.S. this summer. Julia Hamlin, a graduate of the University of Illinois, where she earned a pilot’s certificate, will be in the cockpit and at the controls of the flights, Friday (noon to 5 p.m.) and Saturday (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.), at Friday Harbor airport.

“I can still vividly remember the feeling I got the first time I was at the controls of an airplane, and I still get the same feeling every time I take off,” Hamlin said.

Flights and space are limited, contact Westwind Aviation to reserve a spot,  (360) 378-6991.
