His family submitted the following obituary:

Doug Grossarth
Oct. 2, 1959 – Aug. 1, 2010

Will be dearly missed by his family and countless number of friends.

Doug grew up in Friday Harbor and graduated from Friday Harbor High School in 1977. He moved in September 1992 to Oakdale, Calif., where he met Jeanette, whom he married on June 22, 2002 at the home of one of his friends here on the island. He lived in Oakdale with Jeanette, daughter Kaela and father Karl.

Doug was an exceptional and unique friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a sense of humor second to none and he entertained all who were in his presence. Doug loved to golf and was the happiest when “bonding with the boys” on the course. So many will miss those wonderful golfing adventures.

Doug’s vast circle of friends was not confined to the golfer. Whenever he came to the island, he was so happy when he was able to connect to visit and reminisce with friends.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers that contributions be made in Doug’s name to “The First Tee,” P.O. Box 130, Stevinson, CA. 95374, Attn: Kris Horn.

Karl asked that his e-mail address be posted for those who wish to reach out to him and the family: curlygrossarth@aol.com
