Accomplished composer and concert pianist Grisha Krivchenia will perform original works and pieces by Frederic Chopin and Philip Glass at the Friday Harbor Presbyterian Church.

Krivchenia began giving solo piano recitals at age 15 and has played in hundreds of concerts since. He studied piano and composition at Oberlin Conservatory, and now teaches music and philosophy at Friday Harbor’s Spring Street International School.

“I compose and give performances because the time that I spend making music is time that I feel very connected to myself and to the world,” Krivchenia said.

Connect with exquisite piano music and Krivchenia’s world Saturday, Dec. 29, at 7 p.m., at the Presbyterian Church, 425 Spring Street.

Admission is free; donations will benefit local children’s music education initiatives, MELA and The Very Young People’s Concert.
