35-foot artwork at IMA reception

View Adonna Khare’s life-size, surreal animal world, Jan. 21 - April 29

San Juan Islands Museum of Art presents the artwork of Adonna Khare, Jan. 21 through April 29.

The opening reception is Saturday, Jan. 21, 5-8 p.m. at the new IMA location, 235 A Street #5.

Adonna Khare has created a life-size, surreal animal world in a 35-foot drawing using carbon pencil and paper.  The Islands Museum of Art has shipped six pieces of Khare’s artwork from Santa Monica, Calif. to the San Juan Islands with the help of sponsors Vern Howard of King’s Market, Lang Simon  of Friday Harbor House, Ned Goldsmith and Judith Dubbell.

During the winter months of January to April, the IMA will focus on school tours and education outreach coordinated with this playful art exhibit.  A children’s book illustrated by Khare will be presented along with a coloring book including drawing lessons that the IMA has created for the school tours of the exhibition.
