All OPALCO members may vote in election

In response to Brian Lynch’s letter (“Bogert for OPALCO,” page 6, April 7 Journal), I’d like to clarify an important point. In the OPALCO election, all members may vote in all district elections, regardless of their home district.

In response to Brian Lynch’s letter (“Bogert for OPALCO,” page 6, April 7 Journal), I’d like to clarify an important point.

In the OPALCO election, all members may vote in all district elections, regardless of their home district.

OPALCO is a member-owned electric cooperative and every member has the right to vote for the Board of Directors who make the policy decisions for the co-op: in essence, they steer the ship.

I appreciate Mr. Lynch’s initiative in getting the word out about the upcoming election and hope ALL OPALCO members will look for their ballot packages in the mail the week of April 12 and place their vote — either by absentee ballot (due April 30) or in person at the 73rd annual meeting on the ferry on Saturday, May 1.

And, by the way, the 2010 Annual Report is now available online at www.opalco.com.
