SJI Fire District regular meeting of Nov. 11
The commissioners approved the purchase of a new ladder truck costing $2,271,584. Commissioners approved establishing the property tax levy amount for 2026 to be $4,724,000 and approved the budget for 2026. The State Auditor’s Office conducted an audit for 2022, 2023 and 2024, and will schedule an exit interview.
Chief Noel Monin updated commissioners on the hiring process for current vacancies and the temporary maintenance facilities expansion. He described the Fire Suppression Rating Schedule methodology.
They discussed Roche Harbor’s request for a zoning change to be discussed at an upcoming County Council meeting for property near Roche Harbor Road and Rouleau Road to be used for 180 new homes.
The new fire marshal, Robert Salgado, has been invited to meet with the commissioners.
