The Friday Harbor softball team generated enough offensive to overcome an error-prone outing in the field and tallied its fourth-consecutive victory with a 9-4 win at home Tuesday, March 31, over Darrington.
With the win, the Wolverines improved to 3-0 in Northwest 2B/1B League competition and 3-1 overall.
Friday Harbor grabbed an early lead when shortstop Emma Wickman drove in Alexa Mora to put the Wolverines up 1-0 at the end of the first inning of play. The Loggers tied
the score at 1-1 in the top of the second but the Wolverines catapulted out in front by scoring a combined six runs in the third and fourth innings, highlighted by a timely base hit by Cady Wilson that drove in two.
Capitalizing on a pair of fielding errors in the fifth, the Loggers scored twice to trim the deficit to 7-3, added one more run in the late innings but couldn’t overcome the Wolverines advantage.
Senior Caitlyn Domenech earned the win on the mound.
