Free programs and short films at Friday Harbor Film Festival

Submitted by Friday Harbor Film Festival.

Friday Harbor Film Festival opens with a FREE Opening Broadcast Honoring Filmmakers on Thursday, Oct. 14, at 7:30 p.m. This special livestream event celebrates all filmmakers showing their work at the festival. The evening will begin with an introduction of the filmmakers, followed by a video highlighting all the films scheduled during both the Livestream and On-Demand Festivals. The Local Hero Award will be presented to Verne Howard, Friday Harbor businessman and philanthropist.

The Livestream Festival follows from Friday, Oct. 15 through Sunday, Oct. 17, offering 30-plus exciting feature documentaries paired with 20-plus short films. Most will be followed by audience- participation Q&As with the filmmakers. Details on all films and the schedule are available at FHFF.org. San Juan County students will have free access to four features due to the generosity of Suzie Mygatt Wakefield.

Thanks to the support of our many sponsors FHFF can offer FREE access to over 30 short films and 10-plus student films during the On-Demand Festival, Monday, Oct. 18 through Sunday, Oct. 24. Recorded Q&As from the previous weekend will also be available at no cost.

Due to generous sponsorships, FHFF can present mainstream, new feature films at very reasonable prices. All-access passes cost only $75. Five ticket passes cost only $35. Passes are available now at FHFF.org/passes. Single tickets will be available for $8 beginning Oct. 15.

FHFF will conclude on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. with the Audience Choice Awards Webinar, also offered at no charge. All awards are based on the votes of those viewing the films.

It’s time to mark your calendar, check out the Film Guide and schedule, and purchase your pass for the Friday Harbor Film Festival October 14-24. Watch it all from the comfort of your favorite chair!
