Survey helps plan for future of arts education

The San Juan Island School District and Islands Museum of Art & Sculpture Park are conducting a survey and inviting the community to participate as part of a collaborative effort to enhance arts education on San Juan Island.
Information collected through the survey will be used for planning and acquiring funding for future programs and art instruction in district schools. Broadly defined, “The Arts” include visual arts, performing arts, music and dance.
The school district and IMA encourages anyone with interest in arts education to participate; a link to the survey can be found online at the district website, wwww.sjisd.wednet.edu, under “Announcements”, and will take about 15 minutes to complete.
Questions in the survey are focused on three categories: community connections, district leadership and educational content. The survey is adapted from the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network, Community Audit for Arts Education: Better Schools, Better Skills, Better Communities.
The following organizations have provided funding and support for the Community Arts Education Survey: San Juan Island Community Foundation, Washington State Arts Commission, Friday Harbor Elementary School PTA, Leo J. Shapiro & Associates and San Juan County Arts Council.
