Submitted by the Town of Friday Harbor.

Mayor Ray Jackson thanked service clubs and non-profits for contributing to the community during the town council’s regular meeting on Dec. 1, and issued the following proclamation:

WHEREAS, every act of service or kindness can have an impact on the quality of life for families, neighborhoods, schools, businesses or throughout our community-at-large; and

WHEREAS, Friday Harbor is fortunate to have so many local Service Clubs and Non-Profit Organizations, including churches, police, emergency medical services and fire department reserves, that share common goals to improve the well-being and provide basic needs for our residents, especially our most vulnerable; and

WHEREAS, these Organizations provide education and organized sports, food, shelter, safety and connectedness; and

WHEREAS, they continually navigate ways to offer new services for relief from so many other hardships; and

WHEREAS, every day on San Juan Island, local volunteers and employees of these Organizations address the emotional, psychological, economic and physical needs for hundreds of our residents through their collective assistance and charitable efforts;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Raymont C. Jackson, by the authority vested in me as Mayor, do hereby proclaim the Town’s appreciation and give special recognition to our local volunteers and employees of Service Clubs and Non-Profit Organizations for all of their contributions to our community. Thank you for being by our side.

FURTHER, I urge all citizens to recognize, applaud and join in the service efforts of these Organizations as it builds goodwill and peace throughout Friday Harbor and our neighbors in San Juan County.
