The Friday Harbor Wolverines traveled to Darrington, Feb. 1, to play the Loggers.

This was an important game for the Wolverine varsity boys. The game started out with the Loggers putting up a fierce battle and amassing a gigantic lead in the 1st quarter with a score of 6-25. The Wolverines came out in the second quarter and made a bunch of baskets bringing the score up to 19-28.

After the half and into the third quarter, the Wolverines “got on their game” and brought their score closer to the Loggers with the scoreboard at 32-35. The two teams traded baskets in the fourth quarter with the score 37-39 with five minutes remaining, in the next two minutes the Wolverines had a strong scoring drive taking the lead over the Loggers. At thee minutes on the time clock, the Wolverines were leading with a score of 46-41.

Their lead increased, during a fury of baskets. In the very final seconds of this “nail-biter” game, a glorious win was achieved with the Wolverines final score of 57-42. The Wolverine boys varsity now have a league record of 9-0. Their last league game will be against La Conner at home on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 4 p.m. in Turnbull Gym. During the game, the senior basketball players with be honored.

The lady Wolverines had no trouble dispatching the Lady Loggers taking the win with a score of 36-14. Both the boys and girls junior varsity teams also won their games against the Loggers.
