On Friday, June 23, Popeye, the harbor seal, visited islanders and guests at the Port of Friday Harbor. According to www.visitsanjuans.com, Popeye has been spotted in Friday Harbor since 1995.

In 2005, the Port of Friday Harbor commissioned a sculpture of her, which stands in Fairweather Park, near the main dock entrance.
