Know Your Islanders Talks: Legally blind, Argentina bound

Hear the tale of how two legally blind men journeyed from Columbia, in South America, to the southern-most tip of Argentina when Friday Harbor’s Jim Stegall steps into the spotlight of the next installment of the “Know Your Islanders Talks,” series, Monday, Feb. 2, at San Juan Island Library.

The presentation gets under way at 6:30 p.m.

White canes in hand and with their sighted-wives at home, Stegall and a fellow legally blind friend fulfilled a long-held, shared dream as they traversed the South American continent, a journey on foot from Columbia to Argentina.

Stegall will offer pictures and maps to help illustrate his adventure as part of presentation, sponsored by San Juan Island Trails Committee.

Lights refreshments will be provided, courtesy of Friends of the Library.
