Sale pending for commercial, water-view property in Friday Harbor

Possibly the last commercial, water-view property in Friday Harbor may soon be sold.

Almost a half acre of undeveloped land — next to the San Juan Island Grange No. 966 and across from the San Juan County Courthouse — is in the process of being sold, according to a Coldwell Banker real estate broker.

The potential buyer of the two parcels, at 196 and 240 Front St., is undergoing a feasibility study to decide if the sale will go through.

The property overlooks the marina, on the hill above the Port of Friday Harbor. The real estate listing described the property as “much inquired about” and the “perfect spot for a hotel, apartment complex, condominiums, or retail.”

The land was on the market for almost a year and has been owned by Beatrice Boyce Carpenter of Renton, Washington since 1996.

The original listing was $1,395,000, but may be potentially sold for $1,195,000. Check the Journal for updates.
