Robert Lumsden | Passages

January 4, 1949 – September 30, 2023

Robert Samuel Lumsden, 74, of Puyallup, WA, peacefully passed away surrounded by his beloved family on September 30th after a valiant battle with several health issues over the last few years of his life.

Robert (Bob) was born on January 4th, 1949, to William and Barbara (Buck) Lumsden in Anacortes, WA and grew up in Friday Harbor, WA. After high school he went on to study medical photography but then applied his design skills to the world of construction/architecture by starting his own Construction Company which he had for many years. Eventually, he became involved in real estate until he retired in 2014.

Bob took immense pride in standing up for others in the courts, specifically for those who were challenged by the draft during the Vietnam war. He could often be found surrounded by a group of family and friends who loved to listen to his stories and he in return loved to make them laugh. He had a wealth of knowledge and friends knew he could be counted on when help was needed. He always carried his camera with him to capture life’s special moments, especially during the holidays, those were his favorite times.

Robert is predeceased by his parents and his brothers, David and Larry. He is survived by his twin sister, Joan Lumsden, brother Michael Belcher, his daughters, Sylvan Lumsden, Layla (Lumsden) Singh (Richie) from his first marriage with Carla Kessler; and his current wife Kathy (Strong) Lumsden and stepchildren Robert (Jessica) Vivenzio, Heather (Nick) Taylor and 5 grandchildren, Freya, Neela, Deven, McKinley & Sophie; nieces and nephews; cousins; loving aunt and in-laws.

In 1997, he met his wife Kathy, and they wed in 2001. They lived in Puyallup, enjoyed many road trips together, and loved to participate in family gatherings.
