Library expanding access for library cards

Submitted by the San Juan Island Library

The San Juan Island Library is pleased to announce a new kind of library card available at the library. This card, called the 3 For Me Library Card, is a limited access card for residents of San Juan Island who are unable to verify a mailing address. This easier-to-access card can then be used to check out three physical items from the library, as well as use the library’s digital services.

In providing this new type of card, the Library’s goal is to allow island residents in unstable housing conditions or newly moved and lacking proof of residence to have access to library resources. Those using a 3 For Me Card can upgrade to a regular library card at any time by bringing proof of residence to the Library’s front desk.

Library staff are available to answer your questions about 3 For Me cards or any other questions you may have. For more information, you can reach Anthony Morris at amorris@sjlib.org or visit www.sjlib.org. Library cards are free of charge to islanders. In addition to its collections of books, videos, equipment, games, audiobooks, and other materials to loan, the library also provides public access computers, WiFi, and a suite of databases that patrons can access in the library or at home. Library hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m and Sundays 12 p.m to 3 p.m.
