Dance benefits for San Juan Islander Cynthia Elliot

Submitted by the Isle Seat Theatre

Two benefit performances for longtime islander Cynthia Elliott will be held at the Isle Seat Theatre at 7 p.m., Saturday, June 30 and 2 p.m., Sunday, July 1.

The Isle Seat Theatre is located at 15 Second St. in Friday Harbor. Tickets will be sold at the door for $10 each and kids under 9 are free. All proceeds will go toward keeping Elliott, who has Parkinson’s disease, on the island, and toward her medical fund. For more information on Elliott, read www.sanjuanjournal.com/life/san-juan-islanders-rally-for-local-mother.

The event will feature singer-songwriters Debbie nash Strasser and Kirk Fuhrmeister. There will also be dance performances with en pointe ballerina Lydia Downs, partnered by dancer Stephen Moore in an exciting Pad de Deux from “The Nutcracker.” Downs is not related to Lina Downes, co-founder of the Isle Seat.

The event will also include a modern and contemporary dance by teen and adult Dance Workshop 2 dancers, and performance art by Cynthia Church.
