Carnival to support Island Rec returns Nov. 19

Submitted by FANS

Family fun thrills return to the San Juan County Fairgrounds from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19.

The fifth annual FANS (Families and Neighbors Support Island Rec) Carnival features some two dozen activity and game booths, the popular cakewalk, and inflatable experiences — including the 18-foot-tall monster truck slide (pictured above) and 35-foot-tall pirate’s revenge obstacle course.

Carnival favorites like cotton candy and sno-cones will be available and the Kiwanis’ FAN Friendly Cafe will offer hot dogs, soda and chips for sale. There will also be free face painting and fortune telling.

Admission is also free. One dollar tickets will be sold for the games (which all include prizes), inflatables and food, with items ranging from $1 to $2 each.

FANS was formed in 2012 as a nonprofit group to create new opportunities for Island Rec to expand its parks, programs and services. Proceeds from the carnival help FANS in that mission.
