Fresh start: a new year for you and for us | Editorial

We are on the cusp of a new year. It’s a time for reflecting on the past 12 months and setting goals for the days and for a full year to come.

We are on the cusp of a new year. It’s a time for reflecting on the past 12 months and setting goals for the days and for a full year to come.

Here at the Journal of the San Juan Islands, we are thankful for our advertisers, readers and story subjects, who made it an excellent 2011. As we prepare for another year of covering our island communities, we are also announcing a new way of delivering the news.

Effective with our Jan. 18, 2012 edition of the Journal, we will switch the process in which the newspaper is delivered. We expect this change will help consolidate and streamline our distribution system.

Journal subscribers will still receive their newspaper on Wednesdays, as always. But single copy delivery will no longer be distributed on Tuesday, as has been the tradition, but on Wednesday, our true publication date. Subscribers will be unaffected by the change. But if you are used to picking up your pap

er on Tuesday at one of our local dealers or at one of our many newspaper “racks”, you will have to wait until Wednesday. This pending distribution change will also affect the Journal’s sister papers, the Islands’ Sounder and the Islands’ Weekly. The Sounder will switch from carrier delivery to direct mail delivery and the newspapper will be available at local dealers and at the racks on Wednesday afternoon.

If you are a Sounder subscriber and your mailing address is different from your current delivery address, please call our circulation manager Gail Anderson-Toombs at 376-4500, so that she can help facilite a change of address. We are excited about this new method of delivering our newspaper — and we hope you are too. Here’s to new beginnings for the new year.
