Janet (Knisely) Swanson | 1924-2017

Janet (Knisely) Swanson born Aug. 2, 1924, died peacefully at her home in Friday Harbor on March 11, 2017. Janet was a long-time San Juan Island resident. Born in Everett, Washington to early pioneers Wilde and Elsie (Dinsmore) Knisely. Married to Frank I Swanson also from Everett, for 54 years until his death in 1999. Janet was an active golfer at the San Juan Golf and Country Club for many years and an avid and accomplished musician, singer, writer, and gardener.

Survived by her sons Randy and Richard Swanson of Friday Harbor and stepson Frank Swanson of Mukilteo as well as grandchildren Scott Swanson of San Francisco and Stacy Nunnelee of Seattle, Eric Swanson and Shane Swanson of Everett, Lisa O’Neil, Seattle, Nikki Nicholson, Seattle, and Tony Bassetti of Arlington. Her stepdaughter Kayla Ingbretsen, Lake Stevens, preceded her in death.

Celebration of Janet’s 92 years of life will be at the San Juan American Legion, Saturday, July 29 at 1 p.m.
