Wounded Warrior riders to tour San Juan Island

Following a tour of Whibey's Fort Casey State Park, Friday, riders and support teams will visit San Juan Island Saturday for a series of events, starting with a bicycle tour that begins at the San Juan Island Fire Department's Mullis Street fire station. Later in the day, San Juan Golf & Country Club will host a luncheon and golf competition, a "scramble" format, for roughly 60 or so participants of the Soldier Ride.

The Wounded Warrior Project returns for a tour of San Juan Island, Saturday, and for a bit of friendly competition out on the golf course later in the day.

The Wounded Warrior Project’s “Soldier Ride,” a rehabilitative bicycling event seeks to help military veterans heal physical injuries and mental and emotional wounds through exercise, challenges and camaraderie. Soldier Rides take place across the country, each month in different locations.

WWP alumni from across the nation will gather to ride and take part in events on Whibey and San Juan islands Aug. 7-9, starting Thursday in Oak Harbor. Riders last toured San Juan Island in 2012.
