Aug. 26

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a fraud call near Deer Harbor. The reporting party was scammed by being sent too much money for something they were selling online. The caller incurred no monetary loss. No suspects or workable leads at this time.

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of an ongoing animal noise complaint. The deputy met with the business owner where the alleged violation is occurring and no violations were observed. The deputy conferred with county planning and code enforcement and a report was completed.

• On San Juan, a deputy took possession of a found walkie talkie. An owner was unable to be located and the property was turned into the evidence and property room.

• A Lopez deputy was sent to investigate two 911 calls with no voice. A man was located as the source of the call. He was unaware he had called 911, explaining that a tool he was operating may have been inadvertently pressed against his cell phone.

• San Juan deputies responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on West Valley Road. The driver stated they were not injured, nor did they appear to be impaired. A collision report was completed.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for traveling 66 mph in a posted 45 mph speed zone. The driver was issued a citation for speeding.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped the driver of a vehicle for an expired registration. The driver was issued a citation for a registration expired more than two months.

Aug. 27

• Lopez deputies responded to a report of a domestic assault. One person was arrested and booked into jail. A mental health evaluation was also requested.

• Lopez deputies responded to a report of a verbal domestic incident. Both parties were contacted and a report was completed.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for traveling 67 mph in a posted 45 mph speed zone. The driver was issued a citation for speeding.

• On San Juan, a deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for traveling 42 mph in a posted 25 mph speed zone. The driver was issued a citation for speeding.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped the driver of a vehicle for speeding. The driver was issued a citation for 36 mph in a 25 mph speed zone.

• On San Juan, a deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle about expired tabs. The driver was issued a citation for expired registration and for not having insurance.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle as the driver did not have a driver’s license. A citation was issued for not having a valid license with identification.

Aug. 28

• A Lopez deputy was called about a dog barking during the early morning hours. The barking had ceased, however, when the deputy arrived.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a vandalism call. A vehicle window was broken though nothing appeared to be taken from inside the vehicle.

• A San Juan deputy issued several permit violations on vessels docked at the San Juan County dock at Roche Harbor.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a call about vandalism at a local business. The suspect was caught on security camera footage; a report was taken; and deputies will arrest the suspect when he is found.

• A deputy on San Juan took possession of a found wallet. The owner of the wallet was found to live in Gig Harbor and was unable to be contacted or located. Thus, the wallet and its contents were entered into the property and evidence room per policy.

• A Lopez resident secured a drifting vessel near Flat Point. Attempts were made to locate the Seattle owner.

• San Juan deputies responded to a collision at the Friday Harbor ferry terminal. No injuries occurred and the drivers exchanged information.

• A deputy on Orcas was dispatched to a vehicle prowl. There are no suspects or workable leads at this time.

• A deputy took a report of a vehicle prowl and stolen cell phone from Moran State Park. A cell phone and a book of checks were said to have been taken. The case is under further investigation.

• A deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle in Eastsound for displaying an expired registration. The driver was issued a citation for an expired registration and for not having insurance.

• Deputies on Orcas responded to a verbal domestic dispute. No crime was committed and the complainant was provided courtesy transport from the scene.

• A deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for not having a valid driver’s license. The driver was issued a citation for not having a valid operator’s license with identification, for not having insurance and for not having registration in the vehicle.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for traveling 58 mph in a posted 45 mph speed zone. The driver was issued a citation for speeding.

A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for not having tail lights illuminated when required. The driver was issued citations for not having a valid license with ID and for not having insurance.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped the driver of a vehicle for driving without a valid driver’s license. The driver was issued a citation for not having a valid operator’s license with ID.

Aug. 29

• Twice, deputies on Orcas received calls about acts of vandalism in Eastsound that involved a rock thrown through store windows.

• A Lopez deputy discovered materials unlawfully dumped along Mud Bay Road and filed a report.

• On Lopez, a deputy ticketed a vehicle left unattended in the ferry line during the loading of the late 12:45 p.m. sailing to Anacortes.

• In Friday Harbor, a deputy was contacted about an item found in a local park. The item was entered into evidence.

• A Lopez deputy issued a citation to a California visitor for driving 44 mph in a 25 mph zone of Fisherman Bay Road.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped the driver of a vehicle for failing to yield the right-of-way to another motor vehicle. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and was issued a citation for failing to yield the right-of-way.

Aug. 30

• A Lopez deputy ticketed an unattended vehicle in the ferry line as the 9:15 a.m. sailing to Anacortes was being loaded around it.

• A deputy on Lopez was called about a parking issue at the ferry landing. The owner of the involved vehicle was on site and counseled on the specific parking regulations around the ferry

Aug. 31

• An Orcas deputy responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident.

• A San Juan deputy was dispatched to a report of a prowler. A wallet was found on the property and deputies have not been able to make contact with the possible suspect yet. The wallet was entered into the property room and a report was made.

• A deputy on San Juan took a report of a possible order violation. The incident was investigated and it was found there was no violation of the order.

Sept. 1

• A deputy responded to a citizen-assist call in Friday Harbor. A trespass letter was completed on one person and the letter will be served once the person to be trespassed is located.

• A deputy took a report of found property. Because the owner of the property was unable to be located, the property was entered into the evidence and property room per policy.
