Weather forces more cancellations: Christmas Bird Count, Mark Gardner book-signing, Island Rec meeting, indoor sports programs

The San Juan Islands Christmas Bird Count has been rescheduled for Jan. 3 because of weather. "Thank you to those that e-mailed me to support this change and thank you to the brave souls (only a couple) that were willing to brave the conditions," coordinator Barbara Jensen e-mailed.

“Sit tight, turn up the music and enjoy our winter. Just for fun, count the birds at your feeders on Saturday morning and let me know what you get. This is the time to keep your suet feeder full, hummingbird feeder thawed and expect to see things like Varied Thrushes at your feeders. Put a bit of seed under some snow-free bushes and the small birds will eat it right up.”

The Author and Artist Program at The Whale Museum is canceling tonight’s event with photographer and author Mark Gardner. The event has been rescheduled for The Whale Museum’s grand reopening on Feb. 6.

The San Juan Island Park and Recreation District (Island Rec) regularly scheduled board meeting is cancelled.

Island Rec’s Indoor Soccer and Men’s Basketball programs scheduled for this evening are cancelled.
