U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen to tour San Juan Island, Wednesday

First stop for the congressman will be a tour of the pending Cattle Point Road relocation project, which is moving forward with $5.5 million in federal funds that Larsen helped to secure.

U.S. Congressman Rick Larsen, D-Everett, will be on San Juan Island Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the conclusion of a week-long tour of Northwest Washington.

From 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., Larsen will be joined by members of the San Juan County Council on a tour of the Cattle Point Road relocation project, in which a portion of the road on land managed by the National Parks Service will be relocated away from a bluff threatened by erosion. Larsen helped to secure $5.5 million in federal funding earmarked for the road construction project.

From 3-4 p.m., Larsen will host a “Conservation with Veterans” at American Legion Post 163, in Friday Harbor.

From 4-5 p.m., the congressman will be joined by representatives of the Economic Development Council for a tour of businesses in Friday Harbor.
