Two arrested following alleged home invasion by masked men

The two men, a 26-year-old and 23-year-old, were wearing masks when they forced their way into a Friday Harbor apartment at about 11:30 p.m., demanding various property items and then assaulted the occupants. Neither of the men were armed at the time, Sheriff Rob Nou said.

Two San Juan Island men are in custody on charges of robbery following a home invasion at a Friday Harbor apartment complex late Thursday night, according to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Department.

The two men, a 26-year-old and 23-year-old, were wearing masks when they forced their way into the apartment at about 11:30 p.m., demanding various property items and then assaulted the occupants. Neither of the men were armed at the time, Sheriff Rob Nou said.

In the ensuing altercation, Nou said that the occupants recognized their alleged assailants, who then fled from the apartment. Nou said the incident remains under investigation and declined to identify the two men in custody and apartment’s location.

“We still have a case to build,” he noted.

Nou said deputies tracked down one of the men and took him into custody Friday morning, and that the other, after hearing authorities were looking for him, was arrested later in the day after turning himself over at the Sheriff’s office.
