Town seeks applicants for college scholarship

The Town of Friday Harbor is accepting applications for the Association of Washington Cities Center for Quality Communities scholarship. The scholarship is available through a statewide competitive process for high school seniors active in leadership in their city government, community or school who are planning to pursue college or trade school in the fall of 2026.

Up to four $3,000 scholarships will be awarded along with travel stipends to attend AWC’s Annual Conference in Spokane in June. As an AWC member, the Town may nominate one student each year. Two former Friday Harbor students have received this scholarship in recent years.

To be eligible, a student must be a Washington resident graduating from high school, completing homeschooling or receiving a GED in spring/summer 2026. The student must plan to continue their education at an accredited college or trade school in the 2026-2027 academic year on at least a half-time basis and have been active in leadership in their town government, community or school.

Completed applications are due at Town Hall no later than 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14.
